Saturday Day Sail

April 4, 2009…

Went on a day sail over to McRee for lunch. When we departed our marina, wind was coming almost directly from the East at 12-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots, but seas were a bit rough with very short wave action. Once we rounded Navy Point heading to McRee we had the wind and seas following, so it made for a more comfortable sail. The wind/waves remained about the same through the day with sky being partly cloudy.

The usual crew were onboard with guests being Laura, Wendy, and Scot. Scot enjoyed himself quite a bit as he took the helm for a spell.

After returning to our slip later in the afternoon, we enjoyed cocktail hour on Monomoy before heading over to the Oar House for dinner.

Day Sail

We went out for a few hours yesterday (03/18/09). We took some family (sis and bro-in-law), who are down from Wisconsin, out to experience Pensacola Bay. The wind was 12-15 knots and gusting to 20 knots with chop, although for some reason the photos don’t seem to depict the conditions experienced. Wasn’t a smooth day for sailing, but we were on the water.

First Sail of the Year

First sail of the year! It was a great day to be on the water. It was just a two hour sail, but to be sailing in January is awesome!

Day Sailing

It was a beautiful day for sailing today. I hope some or all of you had the opportunity to get out on the water at some point today. The Pensacola Bay was ruled by sailboats around 2pm; it was wonderful!

Day Sailing in October

We made it out both days for a couple hour sail each time. Saturday was pretty winds with gusts that kept us on our toes and yesterday was calm and relaxing.

Overall it was a great weekend to be on the water.

September Day Sail

Made it sailing today, but there was virtually no wind. It was probably around 4 knot winds to start, which carried us over to around Ft. Pickens, but then it died down to nothing, so we ended up motoring back. It was a day on the water though, so I can’t really complain. Hopefully Ike will steer clear and we will have some nice weather next weekend.

August 5, 2008

Went out this morning for about 2 hours and had a relaxing sail. Around 4-6 knots of wind and calm water. Looked like the PYC was getting ready to hold a regatta, because there were quite a few small boats heading out from there; perfect day for it.

July 26, 2008 – sailing

Made it out sailing yesterday and had a good time for the first part of the day. Sailed over to Quietwater for lunch, then pulled the hook around 2:45pm to head back. We thought it was odd when we pass a couple of sailboats being towed in the opposite direction from where we were heading. We think we figured out the reason and it was to get away from the storm.

We sailed right into the storm and it was nasty. There was zero visibility at times; I’m glad I had GPS to easily track where to go.
