What a great weekend we had on the hook in Little Sabine. We headed out of Bayou Chico Saturday morning.
Ben and Blake had been playing with fake tattoos; so here’s a picture of Ben being goofy.
The clouds began forming over land and it didn’t take long for the rain to show.
It still looked clear over at Pensacola Beach.
Other sailors were out enjoying the day.
Pulling into Lil Sabine on Pensacola Beach.
A dolphin came up to say HI. The initial sound is Blake making his porpoise impression. Pogo’s whimpering is her dolphin wine that she does anytime she sees a dolphin nearby.
Blake was ready to get into the water.
Pogo hopped on the back up Blake’s kayak.
Here’s a picture of our dinghy facing the Margaritaville Hotel.
Pogo went for a swim.
Ben tried out Blake’s kayak, but clearly exceeded the weight limit.
Pogo taking a break from swimming.
Blake wanted to try paddleboarding and did really well at it using his kayak.
Blake got the idea to have Pogo tow him across the shallows.
Dad and son.
Captain Ken on s/v Private Stock anchored nearby, then took his dinghy ‘Top Shelf’ out for a sail.
A mom and her two kids tried swimming across to the shallows, but tired out, so Ken rowed to their rescue and towed them back to the beach.
This picture shows it was still raining over in Pensacola; we we’re enjoying blue skies on the beach.
Blake went kayaking again.
The sunset was gorgeous over Little Sabine.
Ken brought over pork steaks, Carol prepared vegetables, and Ben put it all on the grill; it was a good dinner.
After dinner, Ken went back to his boat to watch the sunset.
We awoke Sunday morning to a gorgeous sky…
…but it quickly filled with smoke in the air due to a 300 acre fire that formed overnight in Orange Beach, AL and a 170 acre fire off Gulf Beach Hwy in Pensacola with the wind blowing from the Northwest.
The sea breeze came in with wind from the South and cleared the smoke. Sailboats headed out to enjoy the wind on Pensacola Bay.
Carol enjoying the morning.
Pogo was tired out from two days of swimming.
Fire in the distance.
Once we approached the Bayou Chico channel, their were kids out enjoying their boats.
It was a really nice weekend. We really wish we had this kind of weather over the past week when Ben’s dad and our friends were all in town.
Hopefully we will have this kind of weather over the 4th of July weekend and then the Blue Angel Airshow weekend following.
