Easter Weekend 2011
We began Easter Weekend on Thursday night with a little hangout time under the dock gazebo, since school was out for Good Friday. Terry brought out Pete to say HI to all.
After heading to bed, we woke up early Friday morning with plans to sail over to Little Sabine under clear skies, but overcast is what we received.
The Blue Angels were out running practice.
Dolphin came out to greet us.
Regardless of the sky and funky wind we’ve had lately, other sailors were determined to enjoy the weekend.
Once we reached Little Sabine, the sky began to clear up. Here are a couple of neat photos Carol took as we entered the channel. The first shows birds in flight that nearly blend with the rocks and the second shows the water towers that have dolphins painted on them and birds flying in front that also look painted.
It was shaping up to be a nice weekend.

Tammy and Marlin sailed in on Keeldover, so we dingy’d over to say hi.
They in turn dingy’d over to Monomoy.

An Oceanis 321 dropped anchor nearby for the evening.

The wind piped up to about 18 knots overnight and continued to climb through the day. We were registering 20-25 knots on the sail back to the marina where we had Saturday evening BBQ plans with friends.
Lanny and Matt brought the kids down to play with Blake and get in on some Easter Egg Hunt action.
Our new marina friends Ty and Kiki took some of the group out for an hour sail on Shooting Star.
Coy and Iris went for a row.
As the day settled down, Ty and Kiki picked up lots of BBQ food for everyone to enjoy dinner under the gazebo.
We awoke Sunday morning to find the Easter Bunny had left a basket with goodies for Blake in the cockpit; amazing how that bunny can find you anywhere.
We stuck around the marina for the day while Blake enjoyed seeing the movie Rio with his Mawmaw. No sailing today, but we did get a brief dolphin show in the bayou and Terry picked up lots of BBQ items for all to enjoy Sunday dinner under the gazebo.
We hope everyone had a safe and happy Easter weekend.
