First Sail of the Year
First sail of the year! It was a great day to be on the water. It was just a two hour sail, but to be sailing in January is awesome!

After fighting water current for 6 months using our trolling motor when trying to get to shore and back, we decided to outfit our dink with a new Mercury 3.5hp gasoline engine. There were too many times where the little 30# thrust motor just didn’t feel like it was going to get us back to the boat. I’m looking forward to the upcoming weekend trips and the chance to try out the new motor.

Today I installed a red LED strip lite in each cockpit coaming box. I’ve felt that the cockpit could use some light anytime we have sailed or hung out in the cockpit at night. So I borrowed the idea of LEDs from a fellow sailor who did the same thing to his boat. They are wired to the switch panel light, so anytime it is turned on, then cockpit LEDs come on as well; works pretty good.
